Tangle Hourglass

There was a shimmering paper lying on my friend’s table. I went closer and saw a very tiny delicate pattern on it. Sadly, it was overpowered by the shimmer. Instantly I took a picture and could not wait to deconstruct it.

And here it is….. my new grid tangle, Hourglass. As the name suggests, the shape reminded me of an Hourglass. It starts with a simple pencil grid and evolves into an over all pattern for the tile. It can also be used as a border or a fragment.

Tangle Hourglass Examples

On a regular square tile it has been used a grid, giving a nice texture to the tile.

On the renaissance zendala, I have used it as fragment along with tangles Knightsbridge and Mooka

The grey 3z has a vertical grid combined with an organic tangle Alabastro
