Sunali Shah, Mumbai

Mumbai’s First Certified Zentangle Teacher

Sunali Shah is one of Mumbai’s most prolific mixed media designers. She graduated with honors in Textile Weaving and Fashion Designing from Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai.

Sunali’s technical knowledge of textiles combined with fine arts, enabled her to discover traditional fabrics and create prêt à porter ensembles which incorporated traditional weaves and prints with a modern cut and fit appealing to the global Indian diaspora.

Over the years her creative and customized expressions have been appreciated by young and old alike in curated fashion events in India, Singapore, Kenya, London and New York. She has designed costumes for Bollywood movies and for commercial advertisements as well as created over two hundred bridal trousseaus over the last 25 years. She was selected as the only fashion designer on the Khadi Garments Panel by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) board, to create an end-to-end fiber to garment production eco system.

Join me to release your creative energy and find peace and happiness within you!

CZT Sunali Shah regularly conducts Zentangle workshops in Mumbai and other cities in India. Her love for Zentangle is evident in the manner in which she shares her knowledge – by fusing art with yogic meditation and mindfulness.

In 2015, I became a Certified Zentangle Teacher at Rick and Maria’s CZT seminar in USA. Zentangle has changed me. I think of it as a precious gift that I have been fortunate to receive. I teach Zentangle so that I am able to, in some small way, pay it forward.

How Zennergy started?

I had spent over 30 years as a successful mixed media designer and entrepreneur, and 18 years as a mother. On my 50th birthday, I realized that I was at crossroads with an important decision to make: “How would I like to spend the next few years?”

The key elements missing in my life were: Personal quality time and the social obligation to ‘give back’

This is where ‘Zentangle’ came in. I was introduced to this fascinating art form by a friend and my first reaction to working with it, was a sense of calmness. I felt liberated and extremely focused at the same time. My desire to continue tangling persisted and without being conscious of it, I had taken my first steps on an endless, experiential journey, a journey which energized me with peace and harmony. It was bliss and with each foray I made into the world of Zentangle, I realized that this is how I was looking for personal quality time!
